The Power of a Testimony

An Invitation to Jesus, Day 6

What (super) naturally happens when we testify of God’s power changing our life? That same power can change the life of another.

Today I am going to share (again) what happened between two people thousands of miles apart, via the internet. You may remember Elfega’s testimony I posted last week? If not, it’s worth the read: Abused and Devalued, Then An Invitation to Jesus. (Go ahead, I’ll wait…)

It was September of 2009 when I first posted Elfega’s powerful testimony on our ministry site. Soon thereafter, a woman in California was searching the internet, attempting to find distant relatives, some in the U.S., and some still in Mexico; Elfega was (is) one of those distant relatives. She typed in Elfega’s full Mexican name, and one of the hits brought a link to our site.

She had no idea that search would alter her life, forever. She found more than she had expected.

As she read through Elfega’s testimony, something inside her spirit quaked. So moved was she by the words that described a complete supernatural change in her relative, that she herself surrendered her life to Christ. She eventually found Elfega’s contact info and after getting in touch with her, related all that happened, namely, finding hope and new life in the person of Jesus Christ. Savior, Lord, He became her everything. All because of one (powerful) testimony shared online!? That is the power of God working mysteriously.

The ending is quite happy. Two relationships were restored because of that one search: one with her Creator and the other with a long-lost relative. But wait, there’s more.

“By the way,” Elfega told us as she recounted this story to us excitedly, “my relative is now also enrolled in Bible school because she too wants to learn more about this message and how to take the same hope to others.”

I am not ashamed of the gospel, because it is the power of God for the salvation of everyone who believes: first for the Jew, then for the Gentile. For in the gospel a righteousness from God is revealed, a righteousness that is by faith from first to last, just as it is written: ‘The righteous shall live by faith.’ ” Romans 1:16-17

I invite you to Jesus today. Won’t you allow Him to transform your life forever as he did with Elfega and her relative?  . .

Both Elfega’s testimony and that of her relative are re-posts from earlier years of my blogging life.
